RECORDS
Junior and Intermediate Records, Club Records, and County Council Records are due to the Extension Office by July 16th. You still have time! Call us if you need help, but don’t put it off!
4-H Awards Program
Our annual 4-H Awards Program will be Sunday, August 24 at 2:00 p.m. at E.M.E.P.A. 4-H'ers participating in District and State events will be recognized. Also, Outstanding 4-H'ers will be awarded. Remember, to be considered for Outstanding 4-H'er, you must complete a 4-H Record.
Dairy Day
Dairy Day was June 22nd at EMEPA. The program presented by the 4-H’ers was outstanding and the food was great. Winners: 1st: Leah Burns 2nd: Ashley Swearingen 3rd: Liam Durant 4th: Mariner Durant 5th: Sarah Burns A special thanks to ALL 4-H'ers who presented the program for the Homemakers at Dairy Day! It was wonderful!
Zed Hawkins Scholarship
Each year the Meridian Coca-Cola Company awards a $100 scholarship to a 4-H member who is a high school senior. If you will graduate from high school in May of 2009, you may pick up an application from my office. Completed applications are due to the Extension Office by August 8.
Club Congress Report
We had several 1st place prizes and many blue ribbons, but you all did an excellent job. Participating this year were Brandi Walk, Courtney Cunningham, Caleb Wright, Lydia Burns, Symone Bounds, Justin Lucky, Laurie Gross, Natalie Gross, Shelly Embrey, Christian Peters, Amber Walk, Ashley Swearingen, Keith Wilcox, and Drew Phillips. Volunteers attending were, Theresa Lucky, Jeri Phillips, Brenda Wright and Sherri Gross.
District Project Achievement Day Report
We had a great time at District Project Achievement Day. Those participating were Liam Durant, Sarah Burns, Leah Burns, and Ashley Watkins. We are so proud of all of you! You did such an outstanding job! If you did not participate this year, start preparing now for next year!
HORSE SHOWS
Congratulations to the Horse Judging Team for placing 3rd overall. They will now go on to compete at the State Horse Show. The State Show is July 9-13, in Jackson. Good luck to those participating in the shows and Horse Judging.
Neshoba County Fair The Neshoba County Fair Livestock Show will be July 25 – August 1. Call Tracy for more information.
LIVESTOCK OWNERSHIP DEADLINES
The deadline to own animals for the State Fair is September 1, 2008. If you plan to show this year, please contact Tracy at 601-482-9764.
NEW CLUB YEAR
Remember that August starts a new 4-H Club year. You will want to get involved in an organized club this year. Most clubs will elect officers in August.
Farmer for a Day Workshop Get ready to see what being a farmer is all about. There will be a workshop on Tuesday, July 22 beginning at 8:00 a.m. and last until 1:00 p.m. The workshop is open to anyone ages 8-12 and only 15 slots are available. If you would like more information, please contact Tracy.
SEWING EXTRAVAGANZA
We will be offering a sewing workshop on Thursday, July 24th from 1:00 – 4:00. Pick out any fabric you like even if it is an old dress you can no longer wear and we will turn it into a pillow. Call Tracy for more information.
4-H Volunteer Corner
There will be a 4-H Volunteer meeting in the Extension Auditorium on Monday, July 14th at 4:00 p.m. Some of the topics we will discuss are club meeting dates and places, activities, contests, and record books.
